About Sara Young
Sara Young grew up in a village just outside of Chicago, Illinois. She excelled early as an artist and athlete, but could never sit in one spot long enough to really get that good at anything. She grew up working in her father's antique store and auction house just outside of Chicago, and there, grew to understand the beauty and value in hand-made furniture, art, clothes, and tools. In 1991, she moved to Portland, Oregon to complete her education, and from there, took the opportunity to travel the country aimlessly. She returned to Portland in 1996 to train at the prestigious Oregon College of Art & Craft. In 2000, she graduated with a degree in craft, and began showing around Portland, working in jobs at the Pacific Northwest College of Art, Oregon College of Art and Craft, and serving as an advisor and juror for several events for the Portland Rose Festival Association. During this time, she also co-founded Lure Gallery and Co-op in SE Portland, which closed its doors in 2005. In 2008, she received her MBA in Marketing from Marylhurst University, and in 2009, began painting anatomical imagery.
In addition to the work Sara sells on this site, she also does commission work for Doctors all over the country. Please email her if you are interested in a commission for your home or office.
